take it downtown

i've found the perfect boots.
someone buy me them asap.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

i went to superstore today, which is probably my favourite store on earth, for its clothes and its housewares. my mummy was nice enough to buy me a cosy cream knit sweater, two gingham button-downs (one red & black, one white & black), an angora tuque, a dove grey sheetset, two down pillows, and a grande chai latte to finish it all off.
needless to say, it was a wonderful day.

actually, the whole weekend has been one heck of a time so far, which is sure to keep up as saturday and sunday roll around.
hopefully you guys are all enjoying yourselves also ! happy friday !

it takes two to tango

i bought a drapey grey scarf-meets-cardi today. i feel like a young liz taylor whilst lounging about ... all i'm missing are a dark leather chaise and ruby red lips. speaking of which, lip stain is on my wishlist for christmas !
other things i've come up with so far, some realistic, others not so much ...
miss dior chérie perfume, a subscription to marie claire magazine, american apparel long-sleeved tri-blend vneck in grey, diorkiss luscious lip-plumping gloss in fizzy lemonade, sex, drugs and cocoa puffs or downtown owl by chuck klosterman, the wrecking ball by christina spens, gift certificate to h&m, cheap monday denim (once i find a local retailer to try them on), dell inspiron laptop, a new cell phone and a trip to paris.
and that is but the beginning.

wild thing, you make my heart sing

i (finally finally finally) got some floral fishnet tights.
i've been meaning to buy some for a while, but i could never find some that cost a legitimate price, considering crumbling bank account. in the end, i got them at the bargain price of five big ones.

these babies will probably be on heavy rotation when it comes to my upcoming autumn ensembles. other items i cannot get enough of for fall ...
  • berets.
  • leggings have yet to get old. generic black are ever-present and i've been meaning to purchase some matte, zipper and thick heather grey varieties.
  • those drapey scarf-meets-cardigan things ? soft and luxurious, in creme, namely.
  • i need more oversized tees. no, scratch that, i need more good quality oversized tees. preferably white and barely sheer.
  • semi-highwaisted skinnies. i'm on the lookout for the perfect pair.
  • the circular scarf from aa in fuchsia is a top priority ! check all the ways you can wear it here.
  • pretty bow flats à la ferragamo.
  • i'd kill for opi nail polish in suzy says da.
  • and most importantly, new winter boots and a new winter coat. i'm in dire need of both, i swear ! and thing is, living in the glacial cold (read: canada) for five months on end prevents me from making choices that are completely fashion-oriented - i'd prefer not to lose my toes to frostbite. i may try my hand at the grunge-chic parka, but i know that i'll be really picky when it comes to selection. as for boots, uggs would keep my toesies warm and snuggly, but really, how old are those ? but again, i'm looking for practicality. this whole outerwear & footwear business could take up an entire post in itself, so i'll drop it now before i start rambling.

    music i'm listening to:
chariot by page france; i'm in the band by the hellacopters; the town that you live in by sherwood; right me up by state radio; your rocky spine by great lake swimmers; the nosebleed section by the hilltop hoods.

happy saturday everybody

distance is a thief.

here it is, as promised ...

loblaws purchases.
to my dismay, i wasn't really drowning in fashion finds as soon as i entered, but i did manage to find a few things that i liked that didn't break my budget. mustard pocket cardigan ($29) & black fleece jacket ($29).
the mustard cardi also came in a navy and eggplant combination, but i came to the conclusion that i already own enough sombre colours, and it was time to brighten things up.
i suppose things will start looking up once the winter stock comes in, because the autumn selection is definitely lacking (or at least it was at that location).

recent finds + purchases not from loblaws.

my cousin gave me a big bag of clothes (make that two, actually) a few weeks ago, filled with gems that she could no longer make use for (thanks jas !). one person's trash is another's treasure, right ? also, i went thrifting before school started, and although less fruitful than i had intended, i did come back with one thing.
men's black crewneck sweater (thrifted, $4) and purple cotton cropped bustier (gift from jas).

cool beans.

i'm totally psyched because i just recently found a pack of three sheer(ish) vnecks at zellers for around twelve dollars. suck on that, american apparel !
also, i now own a darling pair of gold lamé spandex shorts - which cost me approximately 7,50$ canadian - from ardène, the equivalent of, well, a really trashy accessory store smack down in the middle of an equally trashy mall. you can only imagine ...
which means i'm fully equipped for the upcoming few days of summer.
better believe.

May 12, 2008

the weather is changing and breaking my stride.

finally, here it is, my weekend in montreal ...

we stayed at the alt hotel, right smackdown in the middle of dix30's lifestyle neighborhood, which is basically a closed in neighborhood that i'd never have to leave - food, clothing, shelter, concerts, gyms & spas are all available in the vicinity - if it weren't for school on monday. the hotel is brand new, and although i will admit that my expectation weren't exactly sky high, i was pleasantly surprised.

two queen-sized beds took up the most part of the room, where ikea accessories and neo-classic accents reigned. an art-deco chair was strategically placed in front of the tall windows, with a perfect view of the entirety of the outlet stores.

my purchases:

dark wash denim shorts, bright pink interlock mini, color-block tee, basic tees in sangria, white & orange, triblend-like tank, neo-hippie dress (all from h&m) and floral print bandaid skirt (from winners). the last skirt may look a bit odd but trust me, it looks like the lovechild of herve leger and heatherette or something. unfortunately, i didn't have time to scavenge the accessory departement, because i was craving a new pair of sunnies. i did find some at winners, though, with a faux-chloe look about them, but they were white and i wanted something different.

all in all, i'd say the weekend was a definite success.

sing dance floss travel.

i'm liking this.

not necessarely taking a jab at anya's "i'm not a paper bag" concept, these new "i am not a paper cup..." cups - white porcelain with a silicone lid - are simple and i must say quite attractive. i don't know if i'd think to pick up this cup every time i plan on buying coffee though. still, it has potential.

in other news, i went to rideau today & purchases a black tulip-shaped talula skirt. you can expect pictures as soon as i install my camera program on the new computer.

and lastly: t-minus 90 days until cali.

doll scissors in the yellow light.

jessica & i explored loblaws the other day. loblaws' superstore, to be exact. the real canadian superstore is home to many adorable fashions - reminiscentof the banana republic look, if you will - for unbeatable prices. jessica even went so far as to calling it a "miniature h&m". in our world, there is no higher praise.

our picks; patterned tiered skirt, striped sweater tank, red patent heels, double-strap black satin maryjanes, two-tone pumps, perriwinkle blue paperbag skirt, modern khaki trench, pierre hardy-like patent summer sandals, black sheer ruffled tee & immitation prada two-tone flats.
my purchases;

sandals; twenty dollars.

trenchcoat; sixty dollars (expect better pictures soon).

marie claire; five dollars.

squeaky swings.

as promised, here are my purchases from h&m -

vivid yellow lace bra, aubergine strapless bra, tiered floral skirt (!), metallic blue flats, purple aviators.

i was most excited when i found the leather jacket i've been relentlessly searching for. perfect for spring.

brown woven oversized clutch and black & gold enamel ring, thin gold chain (i was in desperate need of one of these since my last one broke), elastic belt, blue doily earrings, chunky blue & gold bracelet.

my posts of late haven't been very garrulous; mostly filled with pictures. but really, i haven't had much time. i'm on my spring break so naturally you'd think that i would have loads of time on my hands, and i do, but it probably won't be spent near a computer. and the reason for this is not because i detest the computer or i dread posting, no, it's quite the opposite. but the fact of the matter is that i will be leaving for islamorada in less than three hours ! and therefore might not have access to internet while i'm away.

where i'll be staying
don't fret though, i'm only gone a week & i'll return with many pictures & stories to tell.
i'll miss you !

ps i really want to see be kind rewind, it sounds so funny; & also quite the contrast from the other movies i've seen of late (girl interrupted, life or something like it, le fabuleux destin d'amélie poulain ... )
